According to the comics, Groot’s homeworld is not a good place and he is unusual among his species…not many others seem to care about other life forms and seem to be quite villainous?
Perhaps that is the same in the movies and the reason he is off travelling the stars with Rocket is partly to escape his world of Villainous Trees
Basically all the Guardians are Depressed Space People hiding their depression with jokes and doing ridiculous things to cope with their Sad Lives and this is probably why I find these movies more relatable than most other MCU movies…
